The Filter C Expansion of the Harpeth Valley Water Treatment Plant is a 16 MGD expansion bringing total plant capacity to 51 MGD.
The project included construction of four (4) flocculation basins with VFD driven vertical turbine mixers; four (4) sedimentation basins with chain and flight collectors and stainless steel inclined plate settlers; and four (4) new filters (two cells per filter measuring 13'-6" x 27'-0") with dual media and air/water backwash system, chemical feed and storage system improvements.
This project also included an addition of a new emergency chlorine scrubber; new variable speed drives for selected high service pumps; new larger variable speed raw water pumps; sludge holding basin treatment improvements; and all related SCADA and controls.
In addition, an Owner requested change order was executed near the end of the original Contract to place free standing covers over existing flocculation and sedimentation basins and those constructed under this Contract.
